Hi – I’m Kim, an Australian author who loves to read and write verse novels for children. This is the place where I peek out of my shell and tell you a little bit about me.

My childhood was full of books, so it’s no surprise I’ve grown into a bookish adult. I read, write, collect and, um, cuddle books. It’s true. When I discover an extra special book, one with all the feels, I find that holding it to my heart and giving it a good squeeze helps me to express my gratitude. Go ahead—give it a try!

I have also been known to hug a tree or two. Again, gratitude! Walking and dreaming in green spaces is where I find my peace. It’s also where I find the mental space to imagine new story ideas and solve plot problems.

I enjoy a wide range of books, but verse novels have a special place in my heart. And junior fiction is where I naturally seem to fall—perhaps because this is the time in my childhood that I remember most clearly. Put them together, and junior fiction verse novels are where I feel most at home in my writing.
